I don't mean \"scientists\" who claim we're going to be riding in flying cars powered by cold fusion and talking to aliens \"scientists\", rather fifty years ago it was projected that around now we would be getting computers that can pass the turing test at higher and higher rates.\r\n\r\nWhat does this mean? We're actually on track research wise and we're slightly ahead of long term predictions.\r\n\r\nWhat does this mean for the long run? It's going to be anywhere from ten to twenty years until we have computers able to pass the turing test around 70%.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAlso: The first exoskeleton was approved by the FDA.\r\n\r\n\r\nAlso: Pollution rates in the usa are dropping thank goodness.\r\n(2005-2011)\r\n!http://www.popsci.com/sites/popsci.com/files/sequence-01-reduced.gif!\r\nhttp://www.epa.gov/airtrends/aqtrends.html\r\nWe're finally getting pollution under control.","author":"38b55cdf63616403d7560600"},{"id":"53b0aba363687244add40000","topic_id":"5161dd617f123bd25900013d","body":"\"@uc9\":/dis/the-time-wasting-thread/post/53b0aa176368724049210000#post_53b0aa176368724049210000\r\nThat is mostly due to the fact that we lost a substantial amount of manufacturin
