Ghosts and goblins the only time it does something that's total bs is when how weak the shield is and you can avoid it.  If I die in say ghosts and goblins, contra or dark souls I know it's cause I fucked up and not cause a lot of games just didn't care about testing their game first. What I mean by this is let's use a analogy; if you play fps games have you ever had a occasion where enemies spawn right out of thin air in front of your face then blows you to paste? Because in both games, the added difficulty just makes the enemies have more health and/or do more damage.
