{"topics":[{"id":"5563cd1963687211b6860200","topic_id":"5161dd617f123bd25900013d","body":"Just a bit of politics, but the non-controversial type; I know it's my own personal opinion and such, but I think I know why the anti-glbt movement just won't give up when it comes to marriage.\r\n\r\nCurrently around 30% of the usa is against same sex marriage and that; the thing is though that if you break it down 6% of the population is only slightly against it (aka the \"voters should vote on it instead of the judicial system deciding\" crowd) and the rest of those that do are for multiple reasons.\r\n\r\nPurely theoretical here, but I think the reason why they're trying to stall for as much time as possible isn't because they hope to turn it back but because in the states that have legalized gay marriage over time there's less and less resistance to it.  Essentially if gay marriage is completely legalized they know that support for their cause will slowly slip away.  It's not that much of a stretch to assume that 6% that only oppose it cause they think it should be done through voting will start slipping into the \"I don't care\" crowd and that.
